NAPTIP, WOMAN Network Sensitise Students on Human Trafficking as Bayelsa Marks 2025 International Children’s Day
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Bayelsa State Command, on Thursday joined the Women for Mentorship and Advocacy Network (WOMAN) to commemorate the 2025 International Children’s Day with a sensitisation campaign at Community Secondary School, Swali, Yenagoa.
The annual global event, themed “My Day, My Right,” brought together key stakeholders, including representatives of the National Human Rights Commission, WOMAN Network, the Centre for Clinical Care and Clinical Research Nigeria (CCCRN), and NAPTIP, to educate students on their rights and the dangers of child abuse and human trafficking.
Speaking at the event, the Acting State Commander of NAPTIP, Mr. Fadeware Timiebiowei—represented by the Head of the Public Enlightenment Unit, Mr. Sambo Wariebi—warned students about the tactics of human traffickers. He urged them to report any suspicious activity or any form of abuse through NAPTIP’s official reporting channels or by visiting the command office.
Executive Director of WOMAN Network, Lady Eunice Nnachi, also addressed the students, stressing the importance of understanding and protecting their rights. She encouraged them to speak up and report all forms of child abuse, noting that safeguarding children’s rights is a collective responsibility.
The event featured the presentation of gift items to students, followed by a group photograph to mark the celebration.
Photos from the sensitisation campaign were displayed at the end of the programme.
