NCDMB Begins Technology Innovation Challenge 2026 Physical Bootcamp in Yenagoa
By Jonah Fubara, YENAGOA — The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has officially commenced the Physical Bootcamp for the maiden edition of the Technology Innovation Challenge (TIC) 2026, marking another significant step towards strengthening indigenous technological innovation in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The bootcamp, which began on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, is being held at the Conference Room on the fourth floor of the Nigerian Content Tower in Yenagoa, bringing together selected innovators, researchers, startups and entrepreneurs from across the country.
The Technology Innovation Challenge is a three-month programme designed to identify, nurture and support promising innovations emerging from Nigerian universities, research institutions, startups and entrepreneurs. The initiative seeks to transform innovative ideas into commercially viable solutions capable of addressing critical challenges within the nation’s oil and gas sector.
According to the organisers, the programme has advanced through several stages since its launch, including a technology workshop, a nationwide call for applications, proposal screening, physical assessment, and an online coaching and mentorship phase aimed at preparing participants for commercialization.
The ongoing physical bootcamp represents a crucial phase of the programme, where participants will receive intensive capacity-building, technical guidance, business development support and mentorship from industry experts to refine their innovations and improve their market readiness.
The annual Technology Innovation Challenge provides a platform for innovators, researchers, technology-driven enterprises and startups to showcase homegrown solutions that can improve operational efficiency, promote sustainability and enhance local participation in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The initiative also aligns with the objectives of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act by promoting technology development, innovation, research commercialization and indigenous capacity building within the sector.
Industry stakeholders believe the challenge will accelerate the development of locally engineered technologies, foster collaboration between academia and industry, and create opportunities for Nigerian innovators to contribute meaningfully to the country’s energy transition and industrial growth.
The NCDMB has continued to position innovation as a key driver of Nigerian content development, with the Technology Innovation Challenge expected to become an annual platform for discovering and supporting breakthrough technologies capable of transforming the nation’s oil and gas value chain.
