
Okaka-Epie Holds Obigbo Day December 27, Gov’t Issues Certificate to HRH Morrison Itelimo Odede
By Our Correspondent – Okaka-Epie community in Yenagoa the Bayelsa State capital, will hold its 2025 Obigbo Day celebration on December 27.
This year’s event will feature issuance of Certificate and Staff of Office to the Obenaken, HRH (Dr.) Morrison Itelimo Odede, Obigbo Kiti-Kiti VI, by the Bayelsa State Government.
A statement by Mr. Daniel D. Daniel, Chairman Planning Committee; Mr. Kalizibe Williams James, Secretary and Comrade Okpenkieze Odede, PRO, states that the event will hold Mid-day, at Okaka-Ekeki Primary School Field, Okaka-Epie.
According to the statement, the Obigbo Day, meant to celebrate the ancestry and cultural heritage of the community, serves as avenue for appraising progress and uniting the people for the common good.
It further states that Chief (Hon.) Thompson Amule, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, will issue the Certificate and Staff of Office to the Obenaken, on behalf of governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri.
The statement indicates that Chief (Dr.) Johnson Sinikiem Alalibo, will serve as Chairman of the occasion, while HRH (Dr.) Sunday Obi Adah, Eze Akogu of Ogba Land is Special Guest of Honour, adding that HRM, King (Barr) Malla Sasime, Obenibe XI of Epie Kingdom will be Royal Father of the Day.
“The event will be rounded off with annual Thanksgiving Service, Mid-day, at the Okaka-Ekeki Primary School Field, Okaka-Epie, to glorify God and usher in more blessings in the coming year and beyond”, the planning committee stated.
It called on all sons and daughters of the community as well as the public to attend the events.
