Ondo Government Signs Open Grazing Bill into Law Amidst Opposition

The Ondo State government signs the anti open grazing bill into law in the state after legislators presented a clear copy of the bill to the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu for his assent amidst several opposition.

Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Donald Ojogu who disclosed this to newsmen in Akure, the state capital said the decision of the government is in line with the resolutions reached at the Southern governor’s forum.

He noted that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu moved the bill which came into law after three readings in the Ondo State House of Assembly amidst opposition by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria.

Other Southwest states such as Ogun, Osun, Oyo and Ekiti have passed the bill earlier after the seventeen Southern governor’s met in Lagos and fixed a deadline for the open grazing bill to become law on September, 1, 2021.
