PDP Will Never Die, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki Assures Outgoing Leaders as Amb. Damagum Hands Over
…Issues Certificates of Expulsion to Nyesom Wike, Others
Abuja – Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), His Excellency Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, formally handed over the leadership of the party to the new National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, earlier today in Abuja.
Addressing an enlarged meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) and other party officials, Turaki declared with firm resolve: “The PDP will never die. This party is bigger than any individual or group of individuals. Those who have chosen to dine with our opponents while still wearing our colours have been shown the way out. This is the beginning of a disciplined, united, and purposeful opposition that will rescue Nigeria in 2027.”
In his farewell remarks, Ambassador Damagum expressed gratitude to the party on behalf of the outgoing NWC members, pledging to collaborate with the current leadership to achieve necessary reforms within the PDP.
In a related development, the PDP’s National Working Committee issued Certificates of Expulsion to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike, and other members who have persistently engaged in anti-party activities.
Acting under Article 59(3) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), the party had, on November 16, 2025, at the National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, ratified the expulsion of members found guilty of gross anti-party conduct, sabotage, and collaboration with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The expelled members include:
- Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister of the FCT
- Samuel Anyanwu, former National Secretary
- Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, former Legal Adviser
- Umar Bature, former National Organizing Secretary
- Abdulrahman Mohammed, former National Vice Chairman, North Central
- Ayo Fayose, Former Governor of Ekiti State
- George Turner
- Austine Nwachukwu, former Imo State Chairman
- Abraham Amah, former Abia State Chairman, among others
These expulsions have been declared final and irrevocable.
Chairman Turaki reassured loyal members that under his leadership, the PDP will:
- Immediately commence healing and reconciliation among genuine members
- Enforce party discipline without fear or favour
- Rebuild party structures across the 36 states and the FCT
- Present a formidable, united front against the failing APC administration
“The PDP is alive, strong, and marching to victory in 2027. No amount of money, blackmail, or intimidation will stop us,” Turaki asserted.
