Peter Obi: I Have No Evidence I Won 2023 Presidential Election
By Tams Jonah, ABUJA – Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has acknowledged that he has no evidence to prove that he won the 2023 presidential election, but said he remains convinced that he emerged victorious.
Obi made the disclosure while reflecting on the 2023 election and explaining his decision to contest the 2027 presidential election.
He contested the 2023 election on the platform of the Labour Party and was declared third by the Independent National Electoral Commission, behind Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and the eventual winner, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress.
Despite the outcome, Obi has continued to maintain that the 2023 election did not reflect the will of the Nigerian people.
His latest comments come amid renewed political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Obi now associated with the New Democratic Congress (NDC), under which he is expected to pursue another presidential bid.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has warned its members in Anambra State against supporting Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition or the NDC.
The party said such support could undermine its political interests and urged its members to remain committed to the party’s position ahead of the 2027 elections.
Obi’s decision to seek the presidency again is expected to be a major feature of the emerging political realignments ahead of the 2027 poll.
