Speakers at the ceremony described Pa Agbodoubiri as a man who commanded respect and whose life demonstrated the virtues of endurance, family responsibility, hard work and the importance of leaving behind a good name.
They noted that while his physical departure marked the end of an era, the values he passed on to his children and succeeding generations would continue to preserve his memory.
Speaking on behalf of his siblings and the immediate family, Mr. Sunny Maxwell Amgbaduba, a petroleum engineer with Renaissance Energy Ltd., formerly Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), expressed profound appreciation to all those who travelled from far and near to honour their father.
Describing the deceased’s 92 years as a blessing, Sunny said the family was grateful to God for granting their father a long life and the opportunity to witness several generations of his descendants.
«“Our father’s 92-year journey was a blessing to us as a family. We thank God for giving him the privilege of living to this age and for the impact he was able to make in human capacity advancement and in the lives of those around him,” he said.»
He particularly appreciated guests from Ekeremor Town, Yenagoa, Port Harcourt, Warri, Forcados, Okrika and other communities for identifying with the extended Amgbaduba Dynasty during the period of grief and thanksgiving.
According to him, the presence of the distinguished guests demonstrated that their father’s influence extended beyond his immediate family.
«“The number of people who came from different communities to honour our father shows that his life and legacy went beyond our immediate family. We are deeply grateful to everyone who came to stand with us,” Sunny said.»
The final interment of Pa Agbodoubiri Amgbaduba took place at Okrika Community amidst prayers, tears, tributes and solemn reflections.
