Rights Group Petitions Senate Over Alleged Injustice, Demands Immediate Action
By Jonah Obasi – A social justice advocate, Peter Akah, has petitioned the National Assembly, calling for urgent intervention over what he described as an alleged miscarriage of justice, under the campaign hashtag “#FreeJusticeCrack.”
In the petition addressed to the leadership of the 10th Senate, Akah appealed to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Petitions, Neda Bernard Imasuen, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, and the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, to intervene in the matter and ensure justice prevails.
The petition, circulated on social media with the hashtags “#FreeJusticeCrack” and “#JusticeForJustice,” accused unnamed individuals and institutions of perpetrating injustice against a person identified simply as “Justice Crack.”
Akah, in the brief statement accompanying the petition, stressed that the demand was driven by the need to uphold fairness, accountability, and the rule of law in Nigeria’s democratic system.
“We demand justice,” the statement emphasized, while urging the Senate leadership and relevant committees to thoroughly investigate the matter and provide redress where necessary.
The petition has continued to attract reactions online, with supporters amplifying the campaign and calling on federal lawmakers to treat the matter with urgency.
As of press time, there had been no official response from the Senate leadership or the committees mentioned in the petition.
