Rivers Government to Work With Stakeholders to Check Flooding

The Rivers State government said it would work with relevant stakeholders to roll out processes to check perennial flooding in the state.

Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Paulinus Nsirim disclosed this to newsmen in Port Harcourt saying all residents and business owners should play their part in line with the program of government to address the issue of flooding.

Mr Nsirim expressed displeasure at residents and business owners who have turned drainages into refuse bin saying they should desist from such act.

He noted that the present administration of Governor Nyesom Wike is desirous to make the state more attractive which necessitated the infrastructural development in line with the urban renewal program.

He emphasized that government requires the support of all corporate organizations, Civil liberty organizations, religious organizations and the media to successfully carry out the program.

The Information Commissioner called on the media to embark on massive enlightenment programs for citizens on their role in checking flooding in the state.
