• Q 3: Is there any command for me to obey?
In the Old Testament, God made it clear that obedience from the heart is much more important than sacrifices (1 Samuel 15:22, Amos 5:21-24). God wants us to offer ourselves, not animals, as living sacrifices – daily laying aside our desires, to follow Him and put all our energy and resources at His disposal. We no longer just take things as we meet them. Our conduct is not merely directed by peer pressure. Rather, we search to know God’s mind over every matter and do only what will please Him (v.2).
Paul uses the concept of human body to teach how Christians should live and work together. Just as the parts of the body function under the direction of the brain, so Christians are to work together under the command and authority of Jesus (1 Corinthians 12:12-31, Ephesians 4:1-16). Notice the caution in vs.3-5. God has given each of us gifts – the ability to do certain things well. These, we need to recognize and use cheerfully, according to His grace and as He directs us, for the benefit of the entire body of Christ (vs.6-8).

► Walking in disobedience to God’s instructions while working for Him in SU.
