2023 Presidential Elections: Stakeholders Call on Electorates to be Peaceful in Bayelsa


Report by Ebizimo Oroyi – Stakeholders in Bayelsa state have called on the electorates to conduct themselves properly before, during and after elections in order to give the state a positive image.

These stakeholders made the call while speaking to newsmen during the 2023 General Elections in some parts of the state saying violence during elections would make those residing outside the state to have a negative view which could also drive away potential investors.

Member representing Yenagoa/KOLGA Constituency in the House of Representatives, Professor Steve Azaiki who encouraged residents in the state to vote peacefully noted that proper education in any society is a contributory factor to liberate the minds of people which helps them to make the right decisions.

Chairman, Project Monitoring in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Mr Ebiye Tarabina who spoke in Opokuma, Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area of the state emphasized the need for the electorate to shun violence as there is life after elections adding that violence is never the right strategy to win elections.

Bayelsa State House of Assembly member, Mrs Ebiowou Koku-Obiyai who commended the general conduct of the electorate and the INEC officials using the Biomodial Voters Accreditation System, BIVAS urged residents of her Yenagoa constituency 1 to continue to maintain good conduct during all elections.

On his part, Mr Olice Kemenanabo pointed out that Kolokuma Opokuma local government area of Bayelsa state has always been known to be peaceful during elections as the people understand the electoral process hence other local government areas should emulate them.
