
2025/26 Legal Year: Gov Diri Attends Church Service in Bayelsa, Reiterates Harmony Among Arms of Government
Yenagoa, – The 2025/26 Legal Year commenced with a special church service attended by Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, and his wife, Justice Patience Zuofa-Diri. The event, held in Yenagoa, brought together key stakeholders in the judiciary, legislature, and executive arms of government.
In his remarks, Governor Douye Diri emphasized the need for continuous collaboration among the three arms of government to deliver the dividends of democracy to Bayelsans.
“We will continue to work harmoniously to ensure that our state is not grounded in any of the fronts — from the executive to the legislature, to the judiciary. We will work hand in glove to deliver the dividends of democracy,” Governor Diri stated.
Prayers were offered for the growth of Bayelsa State, the judiciary, and professionals in the legal sector as part of the 2025/26 Legal Year activities.
The well-attended event featured top government officials, including: Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, represented by Hon. Barr. Oteigbanyo George-Brah, Hon. Justice Matilda Abrakasa Ayemieye, Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Hon. Justice S.C. Amadi, Chief Judge of Rivers State, Hon. Justice Daniel Ayah, President of the Bayelsa State Customary Court of Appeal and Hon. Justice Iheanacho Obuzor, President of the Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal, represented by Hon. Justice Bright N. Deemian.
Also present were the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei; members of the State Executive Council; Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo, Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House; Comrade Gowon Toruyouyei, Deputy Chief of Staff, Deputy Governor’s Office; Dr. Ebiye Wisdom Sawyer, Head of Service, Bayelsa State; Hon. Bulodisiye Ndiwari, Executive Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Area, and several other government functionaries.
The 2025/26 Legal Year church service reaffirmed the collective commitment of the executive, legislature, and judiciary to uphold justice, strengthen democratic institutions, and promote peace and development in Bayelsa State.
Governor Diri’s call for synergy among the arms of government reflects his administration’s focus on unity and good governance as Bayelsa embarks on another legal year.
