As part of his commitment to always maintain high ethical standard in the journalism profession, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Bayelsa state council, Comrade Samuel Numunengi has called on media practitioners across the state to always embrace unity and professionalism in the discharge of thier constitutional responsibilities.

Comrade Numunengi who stated this during the formal inauguration of United Correspondents Chapel at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre, Yenagoa further noted that unity and strict ethical standards are essential elements required in the coverage of events in the society, emphasizing that members of the chapel should take this as thier watchwords as they go about doing thier reportage.

He also pointed out that media practitioners should endeavor to be objective in reporting events across the state, stressing that this is the surest way to proof that they are the watchdogs of the society.

The Chairman of the newest chapel in Bayelsa NUJ, Comrade James Akan expressed appreciation for the magnanimity of Comrade Numunengi in inagurating the chapel, promising that members of the chapel will reciprocate by keeping to the charges that were doled out by him as Chairman of the union in the state.

He also assured the NUJ family in the state that the executives and entire members of the chapel would do everything at thier disposal to uphold the tenents of the profession and the confidence reposed in them.

Members of the executive of the chapel include, Comrade Joy Emmanuel, Vice Chairman, Chris Mark, Secretary, Amgbare Ikiakumo, Treasurer, Jide Dominic, Financial Secretary and Ebiowei Lawal, ex-officio.
