Douye Diri is the Most Popular Candidate, Says Francis Wainwei
The off-cycle governorship elections held on Saturday 11 November 2023 in three states namely Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi may have come and gone but not without bickering from politicians and their political parties.
In Bayelsa state, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC declared Douye Diri, incumbent governor and People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the winner polling the highest number of votes beating Timipre Sylva of All Progressive Congress, APC and Udengs Eradiri of Labour Party, LP.
Oppositions candidates and their parties are calling for a review or outright cancellation of the results alleging that the elections were characterized with vote-buying, intimidation and electoral frauds in all the local government areas of the state.
