
Bayelsa Agog As City Boy Movement Unveil Secretariat, Inaugurate State Excos
Yenagoa, the city capital of Bayelsa state, on Tuesday went agog as the City Boy Movement train stormed the state to unveil the Secretariat and officially inaugurate the state Excos.
Business activities and vehicular movement around the Biogbolo-Opolo areas were partially shut down, as hundreds of youths and women joined the carnival-like train.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, members, party faithfuls and supporters were not left out as they were also seen chanting and singing solidarity songs in support of the movement and Mr. President.
The Director General of the City Boy Movement and his entourage, Zonal Coordinators, State Coordinators with others walked from the popular DSP Alameiseigha roundabout in Opolo community down to the new Secretariat, about 5km walk, while acknowledging cheers from excited Bayelsans as they move in procession to the venue of the event
The group in company of the State Director, His Highness, Blankson Edwin Osomkime, had earlier visited the state Governor, Senator Douye Diri, who expressed his administration’s commitment to support the City Boy Movement towards actualizing it’s objective of re-electing President, Bola Tinubu, come 2027.
According to the Minister of State for Petroleum, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, the movement will be supported 100 percent by him to ensure they achieve the purpose of its existence, adding that empowerment programmes will be rolled out to support the people.
He charged them to work relentlessly in the state so that over ninety five percent of votes during the election will be for the President.
“You have to set a very ambitious target, we shouldn’t have anything less than 95% votes for the reelection of the President, I will everything to support the movement so we can achieve that”
Director General, City Boy Movement, Hon. Francis Shoga Oluwatosin, stated that what is currently happening in the state today is something nobody has done or seen before in politics, adding that the City Boy Movement is one that will position young people in places of leadership.
He mentioned that Mr. President has done a lot of reforms that is repositioning the country and young people will be the greatest beneficiary of the programmes and policies.
“Today, we are doing what nobody has done before, this is history in the making. The Movement will position young people in leadership positions. Bayelsa is a great beneficiary of the reforms of Mr. President and we are proud of it”
In his brief, the Zonal Director, Sen. Asuquo Ekpenyong, stated that “This isn’t a support group, but a structure that will deliver the president bid of Mr. President and other candidates of the party, adding that the movement will serve as ambassadors of our country driven by youth participation, unity and national development.
The State Director, His Highness, Blankson Osomkime, mentioned that the gathering isn’t just a unique one but a history one, noting that they are to move to every corner of the state and the country to spread the gospel of Mr. President.
He said “This is a movement that started in Abuja, and migrated here to the state and other states, which stand as a base between the political class and others. We are to portray government policies and programmes”
He commended the state governor for the support from the moment he was appointed till this moment, adding that the Minister for petroleum has also supported the movement immensely to achieve the successes they have today.
He thanks the leaders of the perty at all level for the synergy to see that the party achieve victory at the polls.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the state excos and unveiling of the City Boy Movement in the state by the state governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Chief Collins Cocodia.
