Let’s Switch Wives is a Ruth Kadiri Film directed by Okey Ifeanyi.  In this movie review VICTOR OROYI attempts to look at issues of egoism, anxiety and childbirth as elements that will lead to divorce.

STARS:

The featured film starred a Ghanaian actor, Toosweet Annan, Ruth Kadiri, Esther Audu, Melvin Oduah, Onyeka Mary and Kenneth Nwadika.  These actors gave life to the characters of the movie.

SYNOPSIS:

Let’s Switch Wives is a movie that discusses the issues in modern marriages amongst couples at the brink of divorce.  The movie presents three married couples, the judge had asked them to go for a 7-day therapeutic session with a marriage counsellor.

The counsellor assigns each couple to a room but things turned out differently, when one of couple had fallout.  For peace, the couples decided to switch wives.

PLOT:

The plot in the movie is linear as directed by Okey Ifeanyi, a member of the Director Guild of Nigeria, DGN.  The three couples moved from their houses to an hotel.  The couples spends the next 7 days in the hotel with various exercises from the counsellor.

Let’s Switch Wives have a simply plot that every action builds around the entire story, yet not boring to the audience.  The characters action from the restaurant, therapy sessions and sporting resort were in good connection.

CHARACTER AND CHARACTERIZATION

Apart from Toosweet Annan and Ruth Kadiri, the other actors are cutting their teeth in the movie industry.

But credits goes to them for their interpretation of the role assigned to them.  Emotions, line delivery and gesticulations are the tools available to a good actor.  The actors through the artistic direction of Mr Ifeanyi were at the top of their game.

DRAMATIC VALUE

Let’s Switch Wives comes with a lesson for couples.  Communication is a key factor in building a successful home for couples.  When couples fail to communicate, they fail in their responsible of building a home.  Communication is simply about talking and listening. The intend of listening is to decode what is been said; thus making it the integral part of communication.

The absences of communication in the lives of these couples lead to egoism, anxiety and the issue of childbirth.

Marriages are suffering owing to several reasons.  Commendations goes to Ruth Kadiri making this boldness in producing this movie.  Divorce is never a way out.  It’s a cycle that will always repeat itself if not properly handled.

The increasing level of divorce amongst celebrities is worrisome, and it is not getting better.  Just as Ruth Kadiri has done, we must use every available medium to teach the key ingredient of a good marriage – communication.

Partners should talk, and partners should be willing to listen to one another.  The resolution in Let’s Switch Wives came when a partner started talking.
