Exclusive Breastfeeding for Children Between 0 to 6 Months is Important, CS-SUNN Stresses

Mrs Ekinabhari Unity Ototo, state coordinator of Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria, CS-SUNN stresses importance of exclusive breastfeeding for children between 0 to 6 months.

She reiterated the importance of exclusive breastfeeding saying that breast milk contains all the needed nutrients for children between 0 to 6months.

Mrs Ototo stressed the importance when CS-SUNN paid a courtesy visit to Yenizuegene Community as part of its advocacy on nutrition and exclusive breastfeeding in Bayelsa State.

The Bayelsa State Coordinator noted that CS-SUNN is targeting communities for its advocacy in order to reach out to young women of child bearing age.

She urged women to also eat properly while breastfeeding adding that there are many local nutritious foods that enhances the production of breast milk.

Lead Advocate, CS-SUNN Lady Eunice Nnachi called on the people of the community to take advantage of the Human Papiloma Virus vaccine as well as the recent malaria vaccine now available in health centers across the state.

Responding, Community Development Chairman, Chief Fabian Melford thanked CS-SUNN for the visit and promised to pass the information to the women in the community.

Chief Melford appealed to CS-SUNN to visit the community for more awareness and sensitization for women.
