
INC Election: Ogoriba Visits MOSIEND Eastern Zone, Engages National, Zonal Leadership Ahead of Polls
One of the foremost contenders for the office of President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Elder T. K. Ogoriba, on Tuesday, paid a consultative visit to its Eastern Zone of the Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND).
Elder Ogoriba, a respected leader with long-standing contributions to the Ijaw struggle, met with both the MOSIEND National Executive Council and the Eastern Zonal leadership as part of his ongoing engagements with critical Ijaw stakeholders ahead of the forthcoming INC elections.
The visit provided an opportunity for sincere conversations on the unity, direction and future of the Ijaw nation.
Speaking during the meeting, Elder Ogoriba highlighted the need to reposition the INC as a more responsive and inclusive umbrella body that reflects the aspirations of Ijaw people across all zones.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening internal cohesion, promoting credible leadership recruitment processes and deepening engagement with youths, community structures and professional groups.
In their response, the leadership of MOSIEND welcomed Elder Ogoriba, noting that the organization remains open to all aspirants seeking to advance the collective interest of the Ijaw nation.
Speaking, the National President of MOSIEND, Dr. Kennedy Tonjo West, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to a transparent, issue-based electoral process that prioritizes competence, character and vision.
He added that MOSIEND places high value on aspirants who demonstrate a clear understanding of contemporary challenges facing the Ijaw people and who are prepared to work with broad-based stakeholders to promote peace, development and socio-political stability across the region.
The engagement ended on a cordial note, with both parties agreeing on the central importance of unity, strategic thinking and unwavering commitment to the Ijaw cause as the INC prepares for its leadership transition.
