
IPM Describes Death of HRH Joshua Igbagara as Great Loss to Ijaw Nation
By Jide Dominic – The Executive and entire members of Ijaw Patriotic Movement, IPM have joined other prominent sons and daughters of Ijaw nation to describe the death of the Ebenaowei of Owiyakiri Kingdom, HRM King Joshua Iyekorogha Igbagara as a huge and irreparable loss to not only Owiyakiri Kingdom but also the entire Ijaw race as a whole.
IPM President Comrade Ganren Mislaw who stated this while speaking with news men in Yenagoa further noted that the late reverred monarch created a positive impact in Owiyakiri Kingdom and Ijaw race while he was alive, emphasizing that the vacuum he left behind may be difficult to fill.
Ganren Mislaw also pointed out that the numerous legacies the late King created are beyond measure in Ijaw the entire Ijaw ethnic nationality, stressing that he particularly ensured that traditional leadership was given it’s rightful place in the affairs of the society.
While reiterating that late King Joshua Igbagara stood for justice, equity and fairness, the IPM President also opined that the late King propagated that traditional stools are the platforms for adequate custodians of the customs, history and traditions of the people.
He butressed this by noting that the late King respected the decisions taken by the council of chiefs of his kingdom just as he equally averred that his subjects were given equal treatments when disputes and conflicts came up while he was on throne.
In his words” The death of the Ebenaowei of Owiyakiri Kingdom, HRM King Joshua Igbagara has created a vacuum that would be difficult to fill which is why the people of the kingdom and the whole Ijaw race described him as the Iroko tree of Ijaw ethnic nationality”.
The IPM President said that the late monarch had a smooth and cordial relationship with Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council which is the central body that coordinates all traditional stools within the state, adding that the customs and traditions of his people were taken to greater heights by Late King Igbagara by working in consonance with the government of the state to develop the socio-economic landscape of his community.
In the same vein, the clan chairman of IPM in Owiyakiri Kingdom, Alfred Supreme and the national representative of IPM and treasurer, Headman Genesis also described the demise of the late Ebenaowei of Owiyakiri Kingdom as a loss that would take a long time to erase from the memories of the people as his contribution to the general well-being and upliftment of Owiyakiri Kingdom occupied a prominent place in his heart until his death, praying that God grant the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
