One of the many reasons God wants to heal your soul is to make you strong so you can live the life Jesus died to give you and enjoy it. The devil, on the other hand, wants to keep you weak. He knows you will struggle and be frustrated as you attempt to follow God’s lead in your life and fulfill His purpose for you if he can keep you weary and worn-out. Daniel 7:25 clearly tells us that one of the enemy’s strategies against us is to wear us out, and we would be wise to guard against that happening in our lives.

If you think about how you become worn-out physically, you realize that it happens over a period of time as you become excessive in things like working too much, not getting enough sleep or rest, or even worrying a lot. Many people confess that they feel weary and worn-out, but they don’t know how it happened. The enemy works to get you out of balance in your life, but he does it gradually—a little bit here and a little bit there. He does not want to call your attention to what he is doing, so he usually works in ways you may barely notice.

He knows it takes more than one attack to wear you out, so he comes against you again and again. And he is relentless. He will send one situation into your life to make you a little tired, then a circumstance that takes a little more out of you, then a series of thoughts about how tired you are. He will attack one area of your life, then another, then another—until you are spiritually worn-out and have lost your energy to fight.

In Deuteronomy 7:22, God tells the Israelites that He will drive their enemies out of their midst “little by little.” That’s the way for them to gain victory. The enemy also understands that “little by little” is an effective strategy for his purposes. Just as God uses it to give His people victory, the enemy uses it to try to defeat us.

When Satan attacks, we should immediately begin to use our spiritual weapons—praising and worshipping God, praying, and standing on the truth of God’s Word. When the enemy speaks lies, we should speak truth. When he tries to separate us from God, we should draw near to Him.

I strongly believe that God is healing your soul for a great purpose and that He wants to use you mightily in His kingdom. But the enemy wants to wear you down so you will never be strong enough to rise up and take the place God has for you. Resist him when he first comes against you, and every time he tries to wear you down, you will have the victory.

Lord, thank You for loving me and for the great plan and purpose You have for my life. Please help me to resist the enemy at his onset. I refuse to listen to his lies and in Your name, I will not allow him to wear me out, amen.
