Wike Tipped To Coordinate Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign In Rivers, FCT
By Tams Jonah, ABUJA – FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is expected to play a prominent role in President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, with the former Rivers State governor reportedly being considered to coordinate campaign activities in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Wike is expected to retain his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while taking on responsibilities within Tinubu’s campaign structure.
According to reports, former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari is being considered for the position of Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council.
The proposed campaign structure is also expected to assign separate responsibilities to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, is equally being tipped for a prominent role as a spokesperson for the campaign.
The reported appointments are part of ongoing efforts to organise the president’s campaign machinery ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, the proposed roles and appointments are yet to be officially confirmed by the presidency.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a prominent PDP figure, has remained a key political ally of President Tinubu since the 2023 presidential election, despite retaining his membership of the opposition party.
