Wike’s Son Denies $2.1m Abuja Land Fraud Claim
By Tams Jonah, ABUJA – Jordan Wike, son of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has denied allegations that he agreed to facilitate the acquisition of 60 hectares of land in Abuja for $2.1 million.
The allegations were made before an FCT High Court by claimants who alleged that Jordan agreed to facilitate the transaction, with $2 million purportedly meant for his father and $100,000 allegedly intended for himself.
According to the claimants, Jordan received the money in London but subsequently failed to deliver the land or refund the funds.
However, Jordan, in his response before the court, denied having any dealings with the claimants or receiving the money.
He reportedly told the court that the signature appearing on the document relied upon by the claimants was forged.
Jordan further maintained that he had never met the claimants and was not in Nigeria on the date on which the document was allegedly executed.
The dispute therefore centres on the authenticity of the document, the alleged payment and whether Jordan had any role in the proposed acquisition of the Abuja property.
The allegations remain claims before the court and have not been established as facts. The court will determine the issues based on the evidence and arguments presented by the parties.
