100 Bayelsans Set to Participate in 2021/2022 Pilgrimage

The Executive Secretary of the Bayelsa state Pilgrims Welfare Board, Eng. John Dan Aputu has stated that Gov Douye Diri has approved the 2021/2022 Easter Pilgrimage for 100 Bayelsans.

Eng. John Aputu who stated this while speaking with with newsmen in his office in Yenagoa further reiterated that the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission has successfully carried out the screening exercise and 100 Bayelsans were selected out of 1000 of them for the Pilgrimage, stressing that the formal flaggoff for the exercise will take place on the 31st of May, 2022.

According to him, the initial date for the flaggoff which was 29th of March was shifted basically because of the global covid-19 pandemic which resulted in the shutting down of Israel borders.

The Executive Secretary of the Pilgrims Board also opined that the Pilgrimage is in batches, pointing out that the first batch is scheduled to take place on the 31st of May and the second batch will kick off by October/November, 2022.

He stressed that Pilgrimage is a window of opportunity for sinners and non believers to make restitution and forsake every evil activities that may hinder thier progress in thier chosen endeavors, maintaining that the board works in synergy with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) , Bayelsa state branch in the selection of those who would participate in the Pilgrimage which is usually done randomly.

He however used the opportunity to express his gratitude to Gov. Douye Diri for his magnanimity and humane disposition in approving the Pilgrimage for the state, adding that the Pilgrims are expected to go to the holy land to pray for the success of the current administration and the rapid socio-political and economic development of the state.
