The current administration in Bayelsa State is a listening and focused government. The Prosperity Administration is enjoying wide acceptability from the people because of the openness and strong commitment to birth a new Bayelsa by the governor, Senator Douye Diri.

In Diri, Bayelsans have a bridge builder, unifier, astute administrator and experienced leader who is not given to frivolities. A man who expanded the coverage of the State Health Insurance Scheme to include all citizens; a man who values the civil service as the engine room of government by placing payment of salaries on first line charge since February 2020.

This is a man who has again put smiles on the faces of retirees with regular payment of pensions and gratuities. He is committing N200 million Naira monthly to clear outstanding gratuities. This governor values education and skills development with a pronouncement to shift the secondary curriculum to technical and vocational studies.

Today, the construction of new Science and Technical Colleges across the 8 LGAs is at an advanced stage along with equipping the various laboratories and workshops. He invested heavily to improve facilities at the state-owned tertiary institutions to achieve accreditation of programmes. What a great feat! On infrastructures, Governor Douye Diri is leading a revolution in road construction.

Truly, Bayelsans are appreciative of the various road projects both completed and ongoing. It is very strategic with economic prosperity to open up several riverine communities in the three senatorial districts. He continued with Sagbama-Ekeremor road in the West, Yenagoa-Oporoma road in the Central and then flagged off the Nembe-Brass road in the East. What a feat!

A brand new dualised Glorydrive and Igbogene-AIT/Elebele outer ring road will expand Yenagoa city as part of the Urban renewal programme of the State capital. The people of Southern Ijaw, are so happy with that road and that soon, they will be able to drive to their council headquarters in Oporoma. What more can people wish for?

This government completed Igbedi Road, Elebele Bridge, Imiringi Bridge, Isaac Boro Expressway, and several internal roads. He has commenced work on Onuegbum-Otuoke Road and Akaba-Okodi Road in Ogbia Local Government Area.

Again, work has commenced at the Toru-Orua-Bolu-Orua-Kabeama-Toru-Ebeni road to link up the creeks in Sagbama Local Government Area. Bayelsa state is today a massive construction yard. Through these many ongoing jobs, thousands of jobs have been created with an improved economic base for a lot of Bayelsans.

This is a working government and the second term looks promising. Douye Diri deserves another term in office. Nobody changes a winning team.
