Gov Fubara Reassures Investors and Tourists at Python Golf Club Championship
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has declared that the state is safe dismissing recent media reports suggesting insecurity in the state. He affirmed that Rivers State remains peaceful, open for business, and fully ready to welcome investors, tourists, and visitors from across the world.
Speaking at the 6th edition of the Python Golf Club 2025 Pro-Amateur Golf Championship in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara said the massive turnout of golfers, dignitaries, and international participants was clear evidence that negative reports about the state were politically motivated and grossly exaggerated.
The governor stressed that the earlier political tension, which caused a brief six-month disruption, had long been resolved, restoring full calm and stability across the state. He noted that many stories circulated in certain media spaces were deliberately crafted to damage the state’s image.
Governor Fubara praised security agencies for their effective operations, emphasising that their work has helped maintain the peace enjoyed today. He added that visitors moved freely, participated safely, and enjoyed the championship without fear — a strong proof that Rivers State is safe.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the tournament in the coming years, stating that Rivers State will continue to promote events that attract national and international participation. According to him, showcasing positive experiences is key to changing the narrative and reinforcing the truth about the state’s safety.
Major General Emmanuel Emekah echoed the governor’s remarks, stating that the calm environment encouraged organisers to choose Rivers State for the competition.
Tournament sponsor, Chief Ikenna Okafor, expressed delight at hosting a sitting governor for the first time in 15 years. He added that the event featured participants from eight African countries — a strong indication of the trust and confidence the continent has in Rivers State.
With renewed stability, strong security presence, and bustling economic and social activities, the state continues to position itself as one of Nigeria’s most hospitable destinations.
