New Infections, Response to HIV Rapid Test Described as Social Issue, Says Delta State Commissioner

The need for more persons to be informed about HIV issues particularly in the rural areas and for individuals to embrace the rapid test to reduce new infections have been described as social issues in the HIV response.

Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu stated this while speaking with journalists in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Mr Aniagwu noted that policy makers such as the government need to understand the social issues of the HIV response for them to provide the needed funds to support the sensitization that would reduce the potency of the virus.

He said that in support of the sensitization on HIV Self testing, the Delta state government is using its state owned media institutions to freely showcase all programs and news on HIV/AIDS.

He admonished private media institutions to reduce the prices for HIV programs to help more persons get the needed information on the modern innovations for HIV prevention.

The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the office of the HIV South South zone and the implementing partners for their huge sacrifice in working towards ending HIV infections in the region.
