Casual Workers Grounds Activities at Warri Refinery
Hundreds of casual workers at the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company have grounded activities as they staged a protest against the management Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC.
The workers are demanding that some of them who worked for several years as casual workers should be converted to permanent workers.
They are also demanding increase in salaries, payment of all outstanding allowances, better working conditions and welfare.
Some others are requesting that they be paid off since their requests are not granted for regularisation over the years.
The over three hundred casual staff called on the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mr Mele Kyari to immediately address these issues warning that they would not resume work until their demands are met.
They also accused the management of the NNPC of consistent failure to meet their demands that has lingered for several years adding that they protested in 2019 and 2021 over the same issues.
