INEC Advised To Take Actions Against Electoral Offenders in 2023 Elections

As Nigerians prepare for the 2023 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has been advised to take actions against electoral offenders as permitted in the Nigerian constitution.

Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council in Bayelsa state, King Bubaraye Dakolo, Agada IV gave the advice when the INEC National Commissioner, Chairman, Planning and Monitoring, Professor Rhoda Ageme made a visit to Yenagoa, the state capital.

King Bubaraye Dakolo who is also the Ibenanaowei of Ekpetiama kingdom noted that as traditional rulers, they would instruct their people to keep away from violence and take part in the upcoming elections.

” Taking the guarantee from INEC that this time, there would be no crookery, 2023 elections would be transparent, with BIVAS, the system is going to be clear, the political class should change their old ways, there is a new dawn, let the best, most competent and popular person win, with the new technology, we’re hoping that we would have the new Nigeria of our dreams”

INEC Commissioner, Chairman Planning and Monitoring, Professor Rhoda Ageme pointed out that INEC visited the state to solicit the support of traditional rulers and other stakeholders to help promote peace and ensure that the forth coming elections is free, fair and credible adding that technology has been put in place to discourage criminals from tampering with election results.

” I came here for advocacy visit, pleading with them as traditional rulers, they can talk to their people, they can also talk to the youths to shun violence and come out to vote”

She appealed to all residents in Bayelsa state to go out in large numbers and collect their PVCS so that they can participate in the elections.
